The peaceful beauty of  Helen Mackenzie lake in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island always inspires me. The hike to this and Battleship lake is an 8.5 km loop that takes about 3 hours to complete so its a nice place to take a lunch and spend the day. I brought my black lab Jett, he loves to swim so the lake was a welcome sight for him as well.
