Keeping my hands busy with my little clipboard at the Nanoose Art in the Garden 2021
My name is Cindy, not Cynthia but yes, I really am a Cindy-Lou. I was born and raised on southern Vancouver Island amongst a playground of forests and beaches. I was an adventurous, independent and determined youngster, much to the chagrin of my mother, and the few babysitters that never came back. These qualities serve me well as the driving force behind my creativity.
Throughout my life I self directed my art education by experimenting with different styles, mediums and techniques searching to express my most personal vision. I began a love/hate relationship with acrylic paint in 1995 but was determined to harness this difficult medium. The fast drying qualities are now an incredibly important key in my layering and glazing processes not to mention my “eager to move forward” nature.
I am a proud Vancouver Island artist glad to be home (2004) after a 14 year hiatus in Alberta. I live with my outdoorsman/husband (Mark) and goofy, lovable black Lab (Jett) on the forest’s edge in Bowser. My inspiration flows within my studio walls guided by the coastal air, surrounding tree silhouettes and the many forest creatures that share our quiet meditative space.
You can find my art in various galleries on the island (see list below) through this website or at the shows I often attend.
